DISTRICT HEATING WITH DOMESTIC FOSSIL-FREE BIOENERGY
Environmentally friendly, safe and affordable district heating produced with bioenergy
Ariterm has decades of experience in planning and implementing various district heating plants. As a pioneer in energy technology, we have been involved in the development of heating plants utilizing biofuels since 1992, when we started designing a heating boiler suitable for wood chips. The technical solutions chosen at that time are used in today's heating boilers - of course the size class has grown considerably. The first district heating plant from our factory was delivered in 2008.
Fossil-free fuels bring cost savings
Our district heating plants use fossil-free fuels such as pellets and wood chips. Carbon dioxide emissions are significantly reduced when switching to environmentally friendly biofuels.
The latest technology using agropellet in the production of district heat
Agropellet is, for example, a pellet pressed from field biomass, which can be used mixed with wood pellets and brings significant cost savings.
We supply heating plants in the size class of 2–4 MW, where the share of plant-based agropellet can be up to 70%. Pellet pressed from field waste is a challenging fuel, with ten times the amount of ash compared to wood pellets. During the years 2021–2023, we have developed a reliable combustion technology that manages the special requirements of high-ash fuel.

Domestic, operationally reliable district heating plant
At the Saarijärvi factory we ourselves design and manufacture the components included in the deliveries. This enables fast project schedules and a high-quality and high-performance end result that meets the customer's needs. We cooperate with partners for whom a satisfied customer is just as important as it is for us. As your partner, we ensure that your company can switch to fossil-free energy easily and reliably.
We design district heating plants taking into account the technical requirements of each site
We implement heating plants equipped with one or more boilers. In the boilers we manufacture, it is possible to install two burners side by side. Our customers have found that two parallel burners offer several benefits, which, in addition to the introduction of inexpensive biofuel, further shorten the payback period of the investment:
- The plant can be run at low partial power with reasonable performance values
- Our combustion technology reacts quickly to network load fluctuations in a wide power range
- During scheduled maintenance shutdowns, the power needed can still be produced with biofuel
Maintenance and the availability of spare parts ensure the operational reliability of the district heating
We manage the operation of the district heating systems we deliver even after delivery. Our spare parts warehouse contains more than 2,000 items for immediate delivery, in addition, our service team is available throughout Finland at short notice.
In 2023 we delivered almost identical 3 MW district heating plants, that use wood pellets as fuel, to two different customers.
